Ping,

The discussion of the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), businessowners policy (BOP) has been revised in Commercial Property Insurance.

The 2013 edition of the businessowners coverage form is now available for use in a majority of states, replacing the 2010 edition. In addition, there are 56 revised businessowners endorsements and 15 new businessowners endorsements with 2013 edition dates. Many of the 2013 changes to the BOP and endorsements mirror recent changes to the monoline ISO commercial property and commercial general liability forms and endorsements.

The updated and expanded discussion in Commercial Property Insurance outlines, first, the eligibility rules for the BOP and, next, the key provisions of the three sections of the 2013 edition of the businessowners coverage form (property, liability, and common policy conditions). A comparison of the businessowners provisions in each section with their monoline form counterparts immediately follows each of the three policy section discussions. The most important differences between the provisions of the 2013 and 2010 editions of the form are noted briefly throughout the discussion. A summary of the changes to the 2013 edition also appears as an exhibit at the end of the discussion, under the "Summary of Major 2013 Changes" heading.

Additionally, each businessowners endorsement is discussed briefly, and an index of businessowners forms and endorsements is provided. If you subscribe to Commercial Property Insurance, don't forget to use this valuable information to ensure you are properly using the BOP program.

Best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year. I hope to see you at the IRMI Energy Risk and Insurance Conference in March.

All the best,
Jack
